Christian Tours 40th Anniversary Celebration
Nashville, Tennessee – Opryland Hotel
In 1977, Udean Burke and his wife Nancy were celebrating their 25th wedding
anniversary with their dream trip to Hawaii. They took a group of 67 people
with them. After this trip to Hawaii, Nancy and Udean talked about planning a
motorcoach tour. Soon, more and more people found out about Nancy and Udean’s
Christian Tours and a business was born.
Opryland Hotel opened its doors to guests for the first time on Thanksgiving Day in
1977. The hotel was originally built to support the Grand Ole Opry and at that time
had 580 guest rooms and a ballroom.
Now, 40 years later both companies have had tremendous growth. The hotel
known as the Gaylord Opryland has 2,882 rooms and suites. More than 750 garden
atrium rooms overlook the hotel's 9 acres of indoor gardens. Christian Tours has nearly
50 motorcoaches, an educational division for student travel and an in-house travel
agency, along with 150 employees.
Happy 40th Anniversary to Christian Tours and Gaylord Opryland Hotel!
