Anchorage-Denali Express and Inside Passage Glacier Cruise

4-Day Anchorage Pre-Tour & 7-Night Cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel

Explore more of Alaska by both land and sea in one vacation! Think wild, and search for bear, moose and caribou in Denali. Then witness the majestic beauty of the gigantic Sawyer Glacier and gorgeous scenery during our inside passage cruise.

Day 1

ANCHORAGE:

Transportation will be provided to Charlotte for your flight into Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Welcome to Alaska! Get ready for an unforgettable journey in the coming days.
Day 2

TALKEETNA • ALASKA RAILROAD • DENALI NATIONAL PARK:

Today, we’ll ride on the world-famous Alaska Railroad from Talkeetna to Denali and travel along the Susitna River, where we’re likely to see some wildlife. As we enjoy the train ride, go up into the Vista Dome, purchase a meal in the dining car, or just sit in your comfortable reclining seat and gaze at the magnificent scenery. The evening in Denali is free for you to enjoy the area on your own, or choose an optional activity such as whitewater rafting or helicopter flight-seeing!
Day 3

DENALI NATIONAL PARK • DOG SLED DEMONSTRATION:

More than just the mountain, Denali National Park is six-million acres of wild land. During your seven hour Tundra Wilderness tour, we will travel 53 miles into Denali National Park and enjoy the incredible scenery and some of the best opportunities to see wildlife, such as bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep, in its natural setting. A light snack is included during our tour. This afternoon we have some free time to enjoy Denali National Park and attend the dog sled demonstration.
Day 4

ALASKA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CENTER • SEWARD • NORWEGIAN JEWEL:

Today, we continue south down the Turnagain Arm along the Seward Highway, with its spectacular view of the Cook Inlet and Chugach Mountains. You have a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Dedicated to the protection and preservation of Alaska’s Wildlife, animals that cannot be released back into the wild are given a permanent home at the Center. The sight of the Norwegian Jewel is welcome as we board the vessel for our exciting cruise! We’ll enjoy dinner on board. (D)
Day 5

CRUISE HUBBARD GLACIER:

Get up close and personal with the gigantic Hubbard Glacier, North America’s largest tidewater glacier. It is 76 miles long, 7 miles wide, and 600 feet tall: 1350 square miles of blue ice and one of the most active in Alaska.
Day 6

ICY STRAIT POINT:

Walk the beaches, explore the museum, see the boardwalks and take in the natural beauty and native culture! Shop for souvenirs, fine clothing, locally made wood working, salmon products, art, books, and Native hand-made art and furs.
Day 7

JUNEAU • SAWYER GLACIER:

Arise this morning in the capital city of Juneau. Juneau has been called “Alaska’s peak experience,” due in part to its unparalleled glacier viewing from such places as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields and Glacier Bay National Park. The majestic Mendenhall Glacier lies approximately 12 miles outside Juneau, and is a sight we won’t want to miss. We sail from Juneau early afternoon and cruise past twin glaciers tucked at the end of Tracy Arm Fjord. Watch for wildlife such as black and brown bears, deer, wolves, harbor seals, a variety of birds, and possibly even mountain goats, which have been spotted near the base of Sawyer Glacier. Listen for the crack of chunks giving way and calving into the sea!
Day 8

SKAGWAY:

In a single year from 1896 to 1897, this remote town along the Inside Passage grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 gold seekers. Today, travelers come in search of other riches – to experience yesteryear along Skagway’s charming boardwalk lined with buildings that replicate those Gold Rush days, like saloons and dance-hall revues. You might choose to take the optional scenic 40-mile ride on the White Pass Scenic Railway that served the Gold Rush to the Klondike in 1898.
Day 9

KETCHIKAN:

Its Tlingit Indian name, Kach Khanna, means “spread wings of the eagle.” Chances are we’ll see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world’s most lush wilderness evidenced by the 2.2 million acres of the Misty Fjords National Monument. Ketchikan is also known as the “salmon capital of the world.” Here, we can see the world’s largest collection of totems poles.
Day 10

INSIDE PASSAGE CRUISING:

Pristine water mountain views, fjords and islands, bald eagles, sea lions and whales are just a glimpse of sights we’ll look for as we cruise Alaska’s Inside Passage. This area, with its rich history and gorgeous views, is amazing!
Day 11
