Explore more of Alaska by both land
and sea in one vacation! Think wild, and search for bear, moose and caribou
in Denali. Then witness the majestic beauty of the gigantic Sawyer Glacier and gorgeous scenery during our inside passage cruise.
Day 1
ANCHORAGE:
Transportation will be
provided to Charlotte for your flight into Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. Welcome to Alaska! Get ready for an unforgettable journey in the coming days.
Day 2
TALKEETNA • ALASKA
RAILROAD • DENALI NATIONAL PARK:
Today, we'll ride on the world-famous Alaska Railroad from Talkeetna to Denali and travel along the Susitna
River, where we're likely to see some wildlife. As we enjoy the train ride, go up
into the Vista Dome, purchase a meal
in the dining car, or just sit in your comfortable reclining seat and gaze at the magnificent scenery.
Day 3
DENALI NATIONAL PARK • DOG
SLED DEMONSTRATION:
More than
just the mountain, Denali National Park
is six-million acres of wild land. During your Tundra Wilderness tour, we will
travel over 40 miles into Denali National
Park and enjoy the incredible scenery and some of the best opportunities to see wildlife, such as bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep, in their natural setting. A light snack is included during
our tour. This afternoon we have some
free time to enjoy Denali National Park
and attend the dog sled demonstration.
Day 4
ALASKA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION
CENTER • SEWARD • NORWEGIAN SPIRIT:
Today we continue south down
the Turnagain Arm along the Seward Highway, with its spectacular view of
the Cook Inlet and Chugach Mountains.
We enjoy a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Dedicated to the protection and preservation of Alaska's
Wildlife, animals that cannot be released
back into the wild are given a permanent
home at the Center. The sight of the Norwegian Spirit is welcome as we board the vessel for our exciting cruise!
We'll enjoy dinner on board.
Day 5
VALDEZ (KEYSTONE CANYON):
If you're interested in dramatic landscapes and diverse wildlife, then Valdez is for you. Ideally nestled along Prince William Sound, this picturesque town seems to have it all—towering mountains, wildflower-carpeted meadows, iceberg-dotted
waters and expansive glaciers. Feel free to go a little wild on an optional
shore excursion, from fishing and whale
watching to glacier hikes and much more. Or, explore the town's Gold Rush history, browse local shops and savor fresh seafood.
Day 6
CRUISE HUBBARD GLACIER:
Get up
close and personal with the gigantic
Hubbard Glacier, North America's largest
tidewater glacier. It is 76 miles long, 7
miles wide, and 600 feet tall: 1350 square
miles of blue ice and one of the most active in Alaska.
Day 7
SKAGWAY:
In a single year from 1896
to 1897, this remote town along the
Inside Passage grew from a few tents to
a city of 20,000 gold seekers.
Today, travelers come in search of other
riches – to experience yesteryear along
Skagway's charming boardwalk lined
with buildings that replicate those Gold
Rush days, like saloons and dance-hall
revues. You might choose to take the
optional scenic 40-mile ride on the
White Pass Scenic Railway that served
the Gold Rush to the Klondike in 1898.
Day 8
JUNEAU:
Juneau has been called
“Alaska's peak experience,” certainly
due in part to its unparalleled glacier
viewing from such places as Tracy Arm
Fjord, the Juneau Icefields and Glacier
Bay National Park. Kayak up one of the
area's many protected waterways, go
flightseeing, tour historic downtown or
try your hand at panning for gold. The
majestic Mendenhall Glacier lies nearly
12 miles outside Juneau, a trek worthwhile.
Day 9
KETCHIKAN:
Its Tlingit Indian name,
Kach Khanna, means “spread wings
of the eagle.” Chances are we'll see one
of these magnificent birds perched atop
a Sitka tree. Thanks to its abundant
rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some
of the world's most lush wilderness
evidenced by the 2.2 million acres of
the Misty Fjords National Monument.
Ketchikan is also known as the “salmon
capital of the world.” Here, we can see the
world's largest collection of totem poles.
Day 10
AT SEA:
Enjoy a fun day at sea
exploring all the Norwegian
Spirit has to offer! When it comes
to entertainment, there's never a
dull moment. Tickle your funny bone
during our comedy variety show inside
the Stardust Theatre. Rock the night
away with this high energy party that
celebrates the sounds of soul to the
raw force of Rock 'n' Roll, or put on
your best attire and dance the night
away at Norwegian's Night Out.
Day 11
VANCOUVER • HOME:
Our ship
docks in Vancouver early this
morning. We are transferred to the
airport for our flights back home.
