Today we travel to Washington, DC. We visit the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial, DC's newest memorial. The park-like plaza is designed to honor and perpetuate President Eisenhower's contributions to the United States as our Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during WWII and as the 34th President. We check into our DC area hotel for the evening.

As time allows, we will visit several of the monuments and memorials around the Mall area. Next, we travel to Lancaster, PA where we take our seats at the Sight & Sound Theatre for the production of “Moses.” This Biblical story comes to life with magnificent sets, special effects and live animals in this original stage production from Sight & Sound Theatres. This Bible story comes alive as you witness baby Moses on the banks of the Nile, Moses leading the Israelites as they cross the Red Sea, and Moses as he encounters God at the burning bush. We enjoy dinner together after the show then check into our Lancaster area hotel for our 2-night stay. (D)

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum provides visitors with the history of Pennsylvania Germans and tells the stories of their contributions to our nation. Here costumed guides will give details of the site which includes over 100,000 artifacts, historic gardens and crops, open hearth cooking and baking, historic animal breeds, and traditional Pennsylvania German craft and trade demonstrations. We travel to the countryside where we will enjoy a delicious lunch provided by an Amish family in their home. Next we will visit Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market. It features delicious offerings, including fresh meats, cheeses, produce, and a wide variety of baked goods. Back at the hotel we have time to relax before our evening out. The Lancaster Hot Air Balloon Festival is a one-of-kind event. The festival is held in the village of Birdin- Hand and features the mass ascension of dozens of big, beautiful balloons, family entertainment, music, fireworks, delicious food, and Amish goods. The highlight of the evening is the Balloon Glow. Watch as dozens of spectacular hot air balloons take flight together, fires igniting to illuminate the evening sky with dazzling colors. (L)

This morning we travel home. We've enjoyed time in Washington, relived the story of “Moses” at Sight & Sound Theatre, learned about the contributions of the Pennsylvania Germans, and saw some spectacular balloons at the Lancaster Hot Air Balloon Festival. These memories will delight us for years to come.
