Day 1

MARYLAND:

This morning we begin a delightful six-day tour to the very scenic Catskill Mountains and the Hudson Valley region of New York. We’ll enjoy a beautiful ride through Virginia, en route to Maryland for our overnight accommodations.

Day 2

NEW YORK • LUNCH • 9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM:

We arrive in New York and enjoy lunch in Little Italy. Next we visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The exhibitions and museum tell the story leading up to the attack, its global impact, and continuing significance. We continue to Fishkill, NY, where we check into our hotel for the next three nights. (L)

Day 3

WEST POINT • LUNCH AT THAYER HOTEL• HUDSON RIVER CRUISE:

This morning we will have a short drive to West Point, New York. We take an informative tour of West Point, the United States Military Academy. Our informative guide will tell the story of West Point, its role in the Revolution and its famous history along with stories about graduates who helped shape our nation. We’ll tour around the post, making stops at the Main Cadet Chapel, Trophy Point, overlooking the Hudson River and the Plain. Lunch is included at Hotel Thayer, located on the grounds. This afternoon, we enjoy a narrated cruise of the Hudson Highlands. Relax in a fully enclosed, climate controlled main salon while enjoying the panorama of the majestic Hudson River through huge wrap around windows and enjoy the passing scenery from spacious sun decks. Day 4

VANDERBILT MANSION • CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA • FDR PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM:

We enjoy a scenic drive this morning as we make our way to Hyde Park for the day. First we visit the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, overlooking the Hudson River. The mansion was built in 1896 and was the home of Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt. A delightful luncheon is planned today at the Culinary Institute of America. After our luncheon we visit the nearby Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. (L)

Day 5

KYKUIT THE ROCKEFELLER ESTATE • VICTORIAN MANSION DINNER:

This morning we will visit the spectacular mansion and grounds of Kykuit, the four generation Rockefeller Estate. We will tour the home, barn, gardens, and downstairs gallery, complete with an extraordinary collection of art and artifacts. We ride through the quaint town of Tarrytown, crossing over the Hudson River as we depart this beautiful area headed for Pennsylvania. Tonight we will enjoy dinner in an 1888 Victorian Brownstone Mansion, beautifully decorated with antiques, carved wood and gingerbread accents. The kitchen here places emphasis on fresh ingredients, gathering herbs from the garden out back and is well known for its Tuscan, Italian cooking. (D)
