Day 1
ALABAMA • MONTGOMERY:
Today, we travel to Montgomery, the
capital city of Alabama. Our city tour
will include a drive by of the Capitol,
First White House of the Confederacy,
the Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Museum,
the Hank Williams Memorial and many
other points of interest. We overnight
in southern Alabama.
Day 2
LOUISIANA • SWAMP TOUR •
CAJUN DINNER:
In the Cajun
Country we enjoy a Louisiana Swamp
tour. You’ll enjoy some of the richest
wildlife stretches on the river as you
glide through gator territory on a
flat-bottomed boat. We hear all about
the swamp and its natural inhabitants
from our local, expert captains. Tonight
we enjoy an authentic Cajun dinner. We
spend the night in Lafayette. (D)
Day 3
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS • DINNER:
Travel today takes us to San Antonio,
our home for the next two nights. San
Antonio is the 7th largest city in the
United States and is one of the fastest
growing metropolitan areas. You’ll
understand why when you get a glimpse
of this beautiful city! Dinner tonight is
included on the River Walk. (D)
Day 4
ALAMO • IMAX THEATER • RIVER
WALK:
Highlights of the day include
a visit to The Alamo, established in 1718
as the city’s first mission, and a most
interesting film, Alamo - the Price of
Freedom at the IMAX Theater. The rest
of the day is free for you to explore the
river walk area along the shores of the
San Antonio River. Shops, restaurants,
boutiques, and vendors line the banks
of the river.
Day 5
Y.O. RANCH • LUNCH • NATIONAL
MUSEUM OF THE PACIFIC WAR
• AUSTIN - STATE CAPITOL:
Saddle up,
partner, we’re burnin’ daylight! We get
a glimpse of the Old West at the Y.O.
Ranch, a 40,000-acre working ranch, and
see the country’s largest collection of
exotic wild animals. All this sightseeing
sharpens the appetite, so saunter-onup
to the table for a mouthwatering
Chuckwagon lunch. We then head
to Fredericksburg where we visit the
National Museum of the Pacific War.
Fredericksburg is the boyhood home
of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz who
served as commander and chief,
United States Pacific Fleet. The Museum
features the Admiral Nimitz Gallery,
The Pacific Combat Zone, Japanese
Peace Garden and much more. This
evening we drive by the State Capitol
Building in Austin. We overnight in the
Austin area. (L)
Day 6
TEXAS RANGER MUSEUM •
MAGNOLIA MARKET • FORT
WORTH STOCKYARDS • CATTLE
DRIVE • STEAK DINNER:
In Waco we
visit the Texas Ranger Museum. Here
we will find out all about these famous
lawmen who have been called one of
the most effective investigative law
enforcement agencies in the world. We
have time for a short stop at Magnolia
Market, owned by Chip and Joanna
Gaines. Arriving in Fort Worth, it’s
apparent that the Old West is thriving
in the Stockyards National Historic
District! See a real Texas Longhorn cattle
drive down Exchange Avenue and
enjoy the authenticity of the Stockyards.
Dinner tonight is included at one of
the area’s popular steak restaurants. (D)
Day 7
DALLAS • SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM
• ARKANSAS:
Dallas is probably
most noted as the site of the assassi
nation of President John F. Kennedy.
The Sixth Floor Museum displays an
interesting exhibition on the life, death,
and legacy of President Kennedy. It is
here in the former Texas School Book
Depository that Lee Harvey Oswald
supposedly fired his fatal shots. Before
leaving Dallas we stop at Pioneer Plaza
to see the larger-than-life bronze
cattle drive. We travel to Little Rock,
Arkansas, for the night. This evening
we enjoy a delicious dinner before
checking into our hotel. (D)
Day 8
MEMPHIS • SUN STUDIO •
MEMPHIS PYRAMID • DINNER •
NASHVILLE:
Upon arrival in Memphis,
we visit Sun Studio, “The Birthplace of
Rock ’n Roll”. It is the discovery location
of musical legends and genres of the
50’s from B.B. King and Elvis Presley to
Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis; from
Blues and Gospel to Country and Rock
’n Roll. Stand in the very same spot
that Elvis first recorded. Your guide will
tell you the inside stories of B.B. King,
Howlin’ Wolf and Ike Turner before
Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry
Lee Lewis, & Roy Orbison who were all
drawn to the new Sun Sound. Next, we
enjoy some time on Beale Street, in
the heart of downtown Memphis, on
our way to the Memphis Pyramid. The
Pyramid was originally built for a sports
and concert arena. Now transformed
into Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid, it is
one of the most dynamic and immersive
retail experiences in the world. In
addition to an incredible assortment
of fishing, boating, hunting and outdoor
gear, the mega store includes a
103-room hotel with treehouse cabins;
600,000 gallons of water teeming with
over 1,800 fish; a cypress swamp with
alligator pools and duck aviaries; and
a breathtaking observation deck at
the top of the 32-story steel pyramid.
We travel to Nashville for an included
dinner and our overnight. (D)
Day 9
HOME:
It’s time to head on back
to the homestead, hang our hats,
and slide our boots under our own bunk!
We’ve had a whoppin’ good time!
