Day 2
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK •
“THE HAMPTONS” SIGHTSEEING
TOUR • DINNER:
Today’s route takes
us to beautiful Long Island. Our step-on
guide will share the rich history and
natural beauty as well as point out
many of the oceanfront homes of the
rich and famous of “The Hamptons.”
We’ll enjoy scenic water views during
dinner this evening. We overnight on

Day 3
FERRY FROM LONG ISLAND TO
CONNECTICUT • SUBMARINE
FORCE MUSEUM • MYSTIC SEAPORT

CRISP • MASSACHUSETTS:
We enjoy
the scenery today as we board the
ferry crossing the Long Island Sound
to New London, Connecticut. Nearby,
located on the Thames River in Groton,
we visit the Submarine Force Museum.
The museum maintains the world’s finest
collection of submarine artifacts. It is
the only submarine museum operated
by the United States Navy. In Mystic
you’ll have time to browse the shops
and have lunch. We then visit Mystic
Seaport. The Museum of America and
the Sea is the nation’s leading maritime
museum. Explore American maritime
history first-hand as you climb aboard
historic tall ships, stroll through a recreated
19th- century coastal village or
watch a working preservation shipyard
in action. We travel to Woodstock
where we’ll enjoy dinner including a
delicious serving of apple crisp at the
Inn at Woodstock Hill. We overnight
near Andover, Massachusetts. (D)
Day 4
MASSACHUSETTS SCENIC
COASTAL DRIVE • GLOUCESTER
SIGHTSEEING TOUR • LUNCH • MAINE
• KENNEBUNKPORT:
A day of beautiful
scenery is in store as we discover the
rockbound Massachusetts Cape along
scenic Route 127. We make our way to
Gloucester, America’s oldest seaport
on Cape Ann where we embark on our
sightseeing tour. We’ll make a photo
stop on Gloucester’s Stacey Boulevard
to see the statues that tell the stories
of this working fishing village. The movie
“The Perfect Storm” was filmed here.
Lunch is a treat today as we enjoy fresh,
locally caught seafood. After lunch we
arrive in Ogunquit, Maine, and travel
up the beautiful coast. Our drive along
Ocean Drive features stunning views
of the Maine coastline and the homes
of Kennebunkport’s rich and famous,
including a slow drive by the summer
retreat of former President George
H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush.
As time permits we explore this little
town with the galleries and shops. We
overnight near Portland, Maine. (L)

POINT LIGHTHOUSE • BANGOR:
Another beautiful day of scenery is in
store today as we admire the beauty
of Maine’s rugged coastline. Salt spray,
crashing surf and oh, the views! Cape
Elizabeth is home to one of the most
photographed lighthouses in the world,
the Portland Head Lighthouse. We
drive through the bustling port city of
Portland as we head north to Freeport,
the home of the Flagship store, L.L.Bean,
known for quality outdoor gear, apparel
and footwear. We visit the Maine Maritime
Museum where you’ll experience
Maine’s rich seafaring history. A great
lunch is in store at the Taste of Maine
Restaurant. Now, traveling through New
Harbor, we come to Pemaquid Point,
site of the first permanent settlement
in Maine (1625). We’ll make a photo
stop at the lighthouse. We leave the
coast for today and make our way to
Bangor for a two night stay. (L)
Day 6
FORT KNOX & PENOBSCOT
BRIDGE • BAR HARBOR • ACADIA
NATIONAL PARK & CADILLAC
MOUNTAIN • BANGOR • STEPHEN
KING HOUSE:
Located on the west
bank of the Penobscot River, in an area
known as the Penobscot Narrows, we
visit Fort Knox, one of the best preserved
fortifications on the New England seacoast.
The Fort has many architectural
features present only to itself, as well as
a rich history behind its cannon batteries.
We cross the beautiful Penobscot
Narrows Bridge which houses the only
bridge observatory in the United States.
We arrive in Bar Harbor allowing you
time to explore the village and have
time for lunch on our own before
touring Acadia National Park. Nowhere
along the Atlantic Seaboard is the
rock-bound coast as picturesque as in
Acadia National Park, one of America’s
most visited national parks. We drive
along the scenic park road as we
enjoy the spectacular panorama from
the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the
first place in the continental United
States to see the sunrise. We return
to our hotel in Bangor and drive by
Stephen King’s former residence. The
best-selling author’s home is instantly
recognizable by its spider web front
gate topped by bats. (D)
Day 7
WHITE MOUNTAINS OF NEW
HAMPSHIRE • MT WASHINGTON
COG RAILWAY • GREEN MOUNTAINS:
We leave Maine and enter the natural
splendor of New Hampshire’s White
Mountains. We stop for lunch in the
little town of Gorham, then continue
our journey to Mount Washington.
We’re in for an unforgettable adventure
aboard the historic Mount Washington
Cog Railway. Enjoy the magnificent
scenery as we make the spectacular
climb to the peak of the highest
mountain in the northeast. When we
reach the 6288’ summit we’ll have time
to visit the weather station before
traveling back down the mountain. This
evening we enter the Green Mountains
of Vermont where we spend the night.
Day 8
VERMONT • COLD HOLLOW
CIDER MILL • LUNCH AT WAYBURY
INN • COVERED BRIDGE • VERMONT
COUNTRY STORE: We begin the day at
Cold Hollow Cider Mill. See the working
cider mill and shop for syrups, Vermont
goods, and check out the bakery, known
for their cider donuts. From here we
travel to Middlebury, Vermont, where
we have lunch at the historic Waybury
Inn. The Inn is better known for The
Bob Newhart Show, which aired on
CBS from 1982 to 1990. On our way we
pause for a photo at Hammond Covered
Bridge. This 145-foot lattice truss bridge
was built in 1842. Our next stop is in
Weston at the Vermont Country Store,
known for their mail order catalog
filled with practical hard-to-find items.

Day 9
BERKSHIRE MOUNTAIN
COTTAGES • LUNCH:
This morning
we arrive in the heart of the Berkshire
Mountains know for its natural beauty
and rich history. In the late 1800s and
early 1900s, some of America’s wealthiest
families built grand mansions in the
Berkshire area. Named after the nearby
mountains, these homes became known
as “Berkshire Cottages.” We tour one
of the historic homes while in the
picturesque area. Our next stop is the
Norman Rockwell Museum, home
to the world’s largest collection of
original Norman Rockwell art. A
delightful lunch is included in this
charming area. We travel to upper
Maryland for overnight. (L)
Day 10
NORMAN ROCKWELL MUSEUM
• HOME:
All too soon our tour must
come to an end. We continue
south sharing our experiences with
each other.
