Day 1

Our adventure begins in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, framed by the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains. Visit the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and explore seven galleries highlighting his early life, presidency, suffrage, prohibition, and World War I. Settle into the Historic Hotel 24 South in Staunton, built in 1924 and a proud member of Historic Hotels of America, for a two night stay. Tonight, we enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant. Day 2

FRONTIER CULTURE MUSEUM • MEADOWCROFT PICKLE FACTORY • ENGLISH TEA & LUNCH • BLACKFRIARS PLAYHOUSE • TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH:

After a bountiful breakfast, discover the Frontier Culture Museum, the Valley’s largest open-air living history site. At MeadowCroft Farm, we see how five generations have perfected pickle-making, then we enjoy English tea and lunch at The Inn at MeadowCroft. This afternoon we tour the world’s first re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre at Blackfriars Playhouse, followed by a docent-led visit to Trinity Episcopal Church, home to twelve Tiffany stainedglass windows. You will have free time in Staunton for dinner on your own before returning to Blackfriars for a Shakespeare performance. (B, L)

Day 3

WHITE OAK LAVENDER FARM • VALLEY PIKE FARM MARKET • BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY:

This morning, tour White Oak Lavender Farm and learn how lavender is grown, distilled, and used—then pick some to take home. Continue to Valley Pike Farm Market, featuring local baked goods, meats, cheeses, and coffees. After lunch, travel along the Blue Ridge Parkway from Rockfish Valley Overlook to Three Ridges Overlook before returning home through Lynchburg and Danville. (B)
